In 1974, at the age of 30, Herb McCullough moved to Nashville from Winter Haven, Florida and started writing songs. In 1978 he signed his first exclusive songwriter publishing agreement. That same year country artist Moe Bandy became the first of many to record Herbs songs. Since then his songs have been included on over 100 recordings by a variety of artists including Shawn Camp, John Anderson, Diamond Rio, Mark Chesnutt, Toni Price, Marie Osmond, Hal Ketchum, The Del McCoury Band, David Schnaufer and Cyndi Lauper. (For a more complete list see "Recorded Songs" on menu.)

After 25 years of active involvement in the music business, Herb has "dropped out" to pursue other creative interests. Since he continues to write songs (for pleasure), he maintains his affiliation with BMI; and his considerable catalog of songs (Walden Holler Music) is currently represented by Matt Lindsey Music (615) 321-1184.
